 reclaiming the wild

August 29th - December 31, 2026
A solo gallery exhibition of nature and wildlife photography by Ryan Henyard, local artist, activist & organizer

About the Artist

Ryan Henyard is a multidisciplinary artist, activist and advocate based in Dexter, MI. A deeply rooted community catalyst, Henyard co-creates art, organizations, learning experiences and opportunities that elevate equity and center the needs and dreams of marginalized people. Ryan’s conservation photography focuses on the wildlife and natural spaces found in Southeast Michigan. Utilizing art to bring attention and support for his abolitionist organizing, he works towards care-based futures around police violence, prisons, housing, racial and social justice. Henyard strives to share his views and experiences of the great outdoors and to make natural spaces more equitable and inclusive for BIPOC, disabled and queer communities - reclaiming these spaces as sites of peace, restoration and healing.
