Volunteer with Us!

The African American Cultural and Historical Museum of Washtenaw County (AACHM) thrives because of the time, talents, and dedication of its volunteers. Our volunteer program is designed to connect community members of all backgrounds with meaningful opportunities to support the museum’s mission of preserving, sharing, and celebrating African American history and culture.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be 16 years+ (limited opportunities available for high school service projects).

  • Must attend a Volunteer Orientation.

  • Must complete at least one full assigned, volunteer shift.

  • Must provide consent to a background check.

1. Visit the Volunteer Page on the AACHM website and register for the next upcoming Volunteer Orientation. You can register by clicking the "Join Us" button below. Our next Orientations are:

  • October 16, 2025 | 12-1PM (Online)

  • October 16, 2025 | 6:30-7:30pm (Online)

2. Email info@aachm.org with the subject line Volunteer Inquiry. A member of our team will contact you with orientation details and help you get matched with the role that best fits your interests.
